Sachin gifts cup-winning knock to wife

Sachin Tendulkar dedicated his stupendous knock of 134 on his 25th birthday on Friday night to wife Anjali after India's splendid six-wicket win over Australia for the Coca Cola Sharjah cup here.

``This is a gift from me to my wife,'' the birthday boy announced after the match and hoped there would be many more such memorable birthdays which will bring victories for India.

``I wish I could have many more such birthdays. It would be good for the country,'' he said accepting his awards as player of the match and tournament.

Tendulkar, who has scored more than 1000 runs against the Aussies in 1998 in all forms of the game agreed he was going through the best form in his career but said he would like to do better.

``I would like to be better than this. You should always try to improve,'' the little champion who was declared the best batsman of the tournament and presented a Opel Austra car for his efforts, said.

Proud Indian captain Mohd Azharuddin said his team played very well to lift the Cup.``Sachin batted brilliantly throughout the tournament. I hope he has many such tournaments,'' Azhar said.

Australian skipper Steve Waugh said his team was beaten by a great player. Terming the Indian maestro's knock as ``one of the great innings'' he had seen, Waugh said Australia gave it their best but India played better.
