Tendulkar pips Chanderpaul

 

Sachin Tendulkar struck 125 runs off 114 balls against a high-quality bowling attack Saturday to guide a Rest of the World team to a six-wicket triumph over the MCC in an all-star game.

In match at Lord's to commemorate the 150-year anniversary of the birth of cricket great W.G. Grace and also raise money for the Princess Diana memoral fund, the Indian batting star hit 15 fours and four sixes as his team easily passed the MCC's total of 261 for four with 6 1/2 overs to spare.

After the MCC's Javagal Srinath and Allan Donald had removed Sanath Jayasuriya and Saeed Anwar to restrict Tendulkar's team to 54 for two, the little Indian star teamed up with Sri Lanka's Aravinda de Silva in a third wicket stand of match his team's way. 177 to turn the

Tendulkar hit Pakistani slow left-armer Aamir Sohail for three sixes before he was bowled by Indian test colleague Anil Kumble with his team on 231. De Silva hit 82 before Australian paceman Glenn McGrath caught him off his own bowling.
